Educational Background
Senator Peter Nwaoboshi attended St. Augustine’s College in Kwale, Delta State, for his secondary education.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Benin and a a Master of Laws from Delta State University.
Career
Peter Nwaoboshi’s political career began in 1979 as an aide to Samuel Ogbemudia, Governor of the defunct Bendel State.
In 1999, he was appointed Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and subsequently political adviser to Governor James Ibori.

Peter Nwaoboshi was appointed Commissioner for Agriculture and Special Duties in Delta State where he served in that position from 2000 till 2006.
He later served as the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State from 2008 to 2014.
In 2015, Nwaoboshi ventured into national politics and contested for a seat in the Nigerian Senate under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He emerged victorious.
In 2019, He was elected for a second term in office under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, his election was overturned by the Federal High Court in Abuja on allegations that he was not validly elected by his political party.
The Appeal Court in Abuja however overturned the decision on 30 May 2019.

In 2021, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was suspended from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for anti party activities. Shortly after, he left the PDP to join the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Controversies
In 2018, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was arraigned for ₦322 million fraud and money laundering. He was found guilty of N807 million fraud and money laundering and was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
However, in June 2023, the Supreme Court squashed Senator Nwaoboshi’s 7 years sentence.
