He was seconded to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 1999, where he led the finance team on the “Project EAGLES” re-engineering and corporate renewal project. This experience showcased his expertise in financial management and strategic planning.


Adelabu held key positions in prominent banks, including First Atlantic Bank, where he served as the Financial Controller and Group Head of Risk Management and Controls. He continued to rise within the ranks, becoming the Chief Inspector of the Bank and later the Group Head of National Public Sector Business.

Adelabu’s career took him to Standard Chartered Bank, where he held the role of West African Regional Head of Finance and Strategy (Consumer Banking Business). His responsibilities included overseeing financial operations in both Lagos and Accra.
