Career
Daniel Abed Khalife enlisted in the British Army in 2018. He served in the Royal Corps of Signals and was stationed at Beacon Barracks in Stafford when he was arrested in January 2023.

His role in the army involved computer specialization. However, following charges related to terrorism and breaking the Official Secrets Act, Khalife was discharged from the British Army in May 2023.
Arrest, Charges and Imprisonment
In August 2021, Khalife was initially arrested on suspicion of violating the Official Secrets Act but was later released on bail to return to his army base.
However, in January 2023, he faced charges related to terrorism and explosives offenses. He was subsequently remanded to HM Prison Wandsworth, a Category B men’s prison, awaiting trial.
These charges were connected to incidents that occurred in Staffordshire, one in August 2021 and another in January 2023.
Daniel Abed Khalife was arraigned at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on February 7, 2023, where details of the alleged crimes were presented. The charges included leaving canisters with wires at MOD Stafford in January 2023 with the intention to induce the belief that the items were likely to explode or ignite.
Additionally, it was alleged that Khalife accessed the Joint Personnel Administration in 2021 to obtain personal information about soldiers that could be useful in committing or preparing an act of terrorism. These offenses were in violation of the Criminal Law Act 1977 and the Terrorism Act 2000, respectively.
Khalife pleaded not guilty to charges under the Official Secrets Act and the Terrorism Act on July 21 during an appearance at the Old Bailey. His trial is scheduled to commence on November 13, 2023.
Daniel Abed Khalife Prison Escape
On September 6, 2023, Daniel Abed Khalife escaped from HM Prison Wandsworth, where he was being held.
Wearing a chef’s uniform, he absconded by attaching himself to the bottom of a food delivery van. His escape triggered a police manhunt and heightened security measures at British airports and ports.
The search for Khalife involved a significant number of Metropolitan Police officers, as well as forces from other regions and members of the Border Force. As of September 8, 2023, he remains at large.
A reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to his arrest.
