Evelyn Anite, also known as Evelyn Anite Kajik, is a Ugandan journalist and politician born on November 11, 1984, in Adakado Village, Koboko District, Uganda. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Uganda Christian University and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Evelyn Anite began her career as a radio presenter and worked at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation. In 2011, she was elected as the Member of Parliament for Koboko Municipality, a position she held until 2021. In March 2015, Anite was appointed as the State Minister for Youth in Uganda. Anite was known for her support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and she moved the controversial Kyankwanzi Resolution to declare him the official party flag bearer.

She received death threats for her support of the removal of the age limit bill, leading to government-provided security. Anite’s statement about having “the numbers and the national army on their side” drew criticism from the Uganda People’s Defence Force.

In 2018, allegations arose that Anite solicited a bribe from Arab investors, which she denied and sued a local newspaper for publishing the story. She faced protests from some Ugandans living in the United States when she was admitted to Tufts University, but the university rejected calls to cancel her admission.
