Hamza Al-Mustapha (born 27 July 1960) is a retired Nigerian Army major, intelligence officer, and politician. He is most renowned for his role as the Chief Security Officer to Head of State General Sani Abacha from 1993 until General Abacha’s death on 8 June 1998.

He was accused of plotting coups, charged with crimes related to targeted killings, involvement in drug trafficking, and conspiring to overthrow the government. In 2010, he was acquitted of most charges. However, he wasn’t cleared of the alleged murder of Kudirat Abiola, which led to further legal proceedings.

After his release, Hamza Al-Mustapha entered politics, forming the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) and later running for the presidency. His political career continued with multiple election attempts.
