Educational Background
Gabriel Attal attended École alsacienne, a private school in the 6th arrondissement, and later pursued law at Panthéon-Assas University from 2008 to 2011. He continued his studies at Sciences Po in 2012, earning a Master of Public Affairs.
Additionally, he gained experience working with Éric de Chassey, director of the French Academy at Rome, during the period of 2009-2010.
Career
Gabriel Attal’s political journey began with his involvement in the 2006 youth protests in France. He later became engaged in supporting Íngrid Betancourt, a Franco-Colombian hostage held by the FARC.
After an internship at the French National Assembly, he worked as an advisor to the Minister of Health, then transitioned to local politics, being elected to the French National Assembly in 2018.

He was considered one of the most promising new members of parliament and held various roles within the National Assembly.

On January 9, 2024, he was announced as the Prime Minister of France, becoming the youngest and first openly gay person to hold the office. Speculation has arisen about his potential candidacy in the 2027 presidential election.

Gabriel Attal previously lived in a civil union with Stéphane Séjourné, a member of the European Parliament for LREM, which ended by 2024. During their time at École alsacienne, Attal had a relationship with singer Joyce Jonathan, although she described it as “a joke between us” and “a playtime crush.” He is the first openly gay Prime Minister in France.
