Pedro played a pivotal role in Guaranty Trust Bank’s early days, eventually retiring voluntarily in 1997. His ventures extended to private business, chairing Agro-Corp Ventures Limited and later becoming the managing director and CEO of Comet Merchant Bank (now FinBank).

As the deputy governor of Lagos State, Pedro chaired the Revenue Mobilization committee, significantly increasing the state’s internally generated revenue. His influence extended to waste management models and the introduction of the BRT system after extensive research in Brazil.

Pedro’s gubernatorial run under the Labour Party in 2007 marked a historic event in Nigerian politics. Despite losing the PDP’s party primaries in 2011, Pedro continued contributing to the party’s efforts in the southwest.
