In the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings as of February 15, 2024, Morocco holds the top spot among African men’s national football teams, closely followed by Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt, and Cote d’Ivoire.

The rankings come after the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on February 11, where Nigeria’s Super Eagles lost 2-1 to host Cote d’Ivoire in the final. Despite this defeat, Nigeria saw a significant rise in the global rankings, climbing 14 places from 42nd to 28th and moving from sixth to third in Africa.

FIFA awards points based on the outcomes of all recognized international matches, contributing to the rankings system. The top 20 African national teams in the latest FIFA rankings reflect the recent performances and standings of these teams following the Africa Cup of Nations and other international fixtures.
