Educational Background

Sylvanus Namang attended Roman Catholic Mission Primary Schools in Kopal before furthering his education at Government College in Keffi.

He graduated from the University of Jos in 1980.

Career

Sylvanus Namang started his career as a journalist as a features editor at The Standard Newspaper in Jos, a role he excelled in from 1982 to 1984.

His commitment and skills were quickly recognized, leading to his promotion to training editor in 1987 and subsequently to the prestigious position of editor, a role he has fulfilled with distinction ever since.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Sylvanus Namang has been actively involved in various community and professional organizations.

He served as Secretary of the Keffi Old Boys’ Association, Plateau State Branch, from 1985 to 1987 and as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau Publishing Corporation Chapel, from 1985 to 1986.

He was the Publicity Secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Plateau state.

Personal Life

Sylvanus Namang got married to Milcah Namang with two children. He was a Christian.

Death

Sylvanus Namang was fatally shot by unknown gunmen in Pankshin town on a Saturday. He was 65 years old
