Bassirou Diomaye Faye was born in 1980 in Ndiaganiao, located in the western department of M’Bour, Senegal.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

In 2000, Bassirou Diomaye Faye got his baccalaureate. He obtained a master’s degree in law. Faye demonstrated his dedication by passing both competitive exams, gaining admission to the prestigious National School of Administration (ENA) Dakar and the magistracy in 2004.

CAREER

After his education, Bassirou Diomaye Faye chose to pursue a career as a tax inspector in the Tax and Estates department. He formed a friendship with Sonko, who was also an alumni from the same school. Their bond strengthened in 2014 when Faye and Sonko became more involved in the Taxes and Estates Union, established by Sonko, who was the leader of the newly founded PASTEF party. While leading the union, Faye advocated for initiatives aimed at making homeownership more accessible for tax and property agents, demonstrating his commitment to improving the welfare of his colleagues and constituents. CONTROVERSIES

On 14 April 2023, Faye was apprehended as he exited his tax and property office on Rue de Thiong in Dakar.
