Seamus Heaney was an Irish poet, playwright, and translator, born on April 13, 1939, in the townland of Tamniaran between Castledawson and Toomebridge, Northern Ireland. He was the first of nine children. He moved to Bellaghy with his family in 1953, where he spent most of his life. He received his education at Queen’s University Belfast.
