EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

She pursued her education at Barnard College, where she earned an undergraduate degree in political science in 2006. She continued her studies at Columbia University, obtaining a master’s degree in education in 2009.

CAREER

Sun began her public service career in 2009 within New York State’s legislative branch, where she held various positions, including chief of staff to Assemblywoman Grace Meng.

In 2012, she was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo as the director of Asian American affairs and Queens regional representative. Sun’s career progressed as she took on the role of director of external affairs for Empire State Development. She also had a brief tenure at the New York State Department of Financial Services.
