Hailemariam Desalegn Boshe, born on July 19, 1965, is an Ethiopian statesman who held the office of Prime Minister from 2012 to 2018. Prior to becoming prime minister, he served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs under Meles Zenawi from 2010 to 2012. Following Meles’ death in August 2012, Hailemariam was appointed acting prime minister and subsequently elected chairman of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) on September 15, 2012.
