Shaka Ssali was born as Mike Mushakamba Ssali to Joyce and John Wilson Mushakamba in Kabale, on April 9, 1953, in Kabale District, Western Uganda.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Ssali attended Kikungiri Primary School and Kigezi High School. His secondary education faced interruptions, leading him to drop out in the 1960s. During his youth, he enlisted as a paratrooper in the Uganda Army. In 1976, seeking refuge from Idi Amin’s oppressive regime, Ssali moved to the United States, where he pursued higher education, earning bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Cross-Cultural Communications from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
