Taiwo Hassan was born in Ilaro, Ogun State, Nigeria, on 31 October 1959. He grew up in Ilaro before eventually moving to Lagos in search of better educational and career opportunities. Hassan came from a family with a history of twins. He revealed during his lifetime that his mother had given birth to four sets of twins, while his father and grandfather were also twins.
