Career
Sani Shuwaram was a Nigerian militant. Prior to his appointment he was one of the top commanders of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Following the death of Abu Musab Al- Barnawi, Sani Shuwaram was appointed the new leader of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) by the members of the Shura (Judicial) Council of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
He was sworn in as the 5th leader of ISWAP in November 2021 by Alkali (Judge) Bukar Arge in Kurnawa in a brief ceremony held in a remote camp in Lake Chad, the de-facto headquarters of ISWAP in Abadam Local Government Area in Borno.
Sani Shuwaram swearing in was attended by top officials of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Syria (ISIS).
