How to make meat pie

Meat pie is one of the delicious snacks to take. Made from a meat, Irish potato and carrot infilling. It is mostly gotten from street shops and restaurants. However, this can be prepared at home. It is an easy procedure although it takes time. You will find a step by step procedure on how to make this delicious snack.

Ingredients for making meat pie

  • Chopped or blended meat
  • Sliced Irish potato
  • Sliced carrots
  • 4 cups of flour
  • 1 sachet of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 medium sized onion
  • 1 seasoning cube
  • 1 cooking spoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of curry and of thyme
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • Milk (optional)
  • 1 egg white
  • Procedure for making meat pie

  • For the infilling:

    1. Steam meat with seasoning, onion, curry, thyme and salt
    2. Boil separately the sliced Irish potatoes and carrots to make them soft
    3. Put pan to heat and add your groundnut oil
    4. Fry meat, Irish potato and carrot together

     For the dough:

    1. Put flour in a bowl
    2. Add your butter and mix
    3. Add your baking powder and milk and mix
    4. While mixing, add your cold water little by little till the dough is sticky but not too soft
    5. Leave for about five minutes
    6. Bring out from the bowl and roll with a rolling pin
    7. Use a Meat pie cutter or anything that can give you a round shape to cut the dough
    8. Place the infilling in the middle of the dough and fold. Use fork to press the side if you are not using a meat pie cutter
    9. Rub the egg on the body and the edges so that the meat pie do not open while baking
    10. Grease the baking pan and then place the dough
    11. Place in an oven and bake for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

    Bring out your meatpie and enjoy with a chilled drink.
