|Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa is a South African politician and retired policeman. He was the 5th president of South Africa and 7th Deputy President of South Africa. Cyril Ramaphosa was born on 17 November 1952 in Soweto, South Africa to Samuel Ramaphosa and Erdmuth Ramaphosa.
Educational Background
Cyril Ramaphosa attended local primary school and Sekano-Ntoane High School, Soweto. He proceeded to Mphaphuli High School in Sibasa in 1971 and later to University of the North (Turfloop) for a BProc degree in 1972.

In 1981, he obtained Bproc degree through correspondence with the University of South Africa
Career
Cyril Ramaphosa picked interest in politics while still a student. He was a member of the South African Students Organization (SASO) during which he served as the chairman of the Student Christian Movement.
Ramaphosa was detained for 11 months in an aftermath of the the pro-Frelimo rally in 1974. He joined the Black People’ Convention (BPC) after he was released from prison.

In August 1976, Ramaphosa was detained for 6 months after the civil unrest in Soweto.
After graduation from school Ramaphosa worked as an advisor in the legal department Council of Unions of South Africa (Cusa).

Personal Life
Cyril Ramaphosa got married to his first wife Hope Ramaphosa in 1978 but divorced in 1989. In 1991, he married his second wife Nomazizi Mtshotshisa but divorced in 1993. Cyril Ramaphosa married his third and current wife Tshepo Motsepe in 1996. He has 6 children.
