Olusegun Oni is a Nigerian politician and a former governor of Ekiti state. He served as Ekiti state governor from 2007 to 2010. Segun Oni was born on September 5, 1954 in Ifaki, Ekiti.

Educational Background
Segun Oni attended Methodist Secondary Modern School, Ifaki Ekiti and Wesley College, Ibadan. He is an alumnus of Community Secondary Modern School, Ido Ekiti, Ayetoro-Iloro High School and University of Ife.

Career
Segun Oni started his career as an engineer. He became a corporate member, Nigerian Society of Engineers in 1987. In 1988, he became a COREN registered Engineer.

Segun Oni served as the Treasurer of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers from 1986 to 1988.
Segun Oni joined politics and was a founding member of the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) in Ekiti.
In 2007, Segun Oni was elected the governor of Ekiti state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, he was removed from office after an appeal court ruled against him in October 2010.
Segun Oni served as the Deputy National Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the South.

In 2022, Segun Oni picked nomination form to run for governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However after he lost in the primary election to Bisi Kolawole.
