House of Representatives passes Bill to establish the Federal Medical Centre, Rigasa

The House of Representatives on Wednesday unanimously passed Bill to establish the Federal Medical Centre, Rigasa, Kaduna State.

According to a statement by Senator Sani, the bill which was sponsored by Senator Uba Sani was concurrently passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives, is expected to be assented to by President Buhari soon.

The statement read

Yesterday, the House of Representatives unanimously passed my Bill to establish the Federal Medical Centre, Rigasa, Kaduna State. With this concurrent passage from the Senate and the House of Representatives, I have no doubt that our amiable leader, Governor Nasir El-Rufai will lead us assiduously in getting the Presidential Assent.

Attached video is a throwback to when the Senate passed the Bill. The Federal Medical Centre, Rigasa, when established, will perform the following functions:

  1. To equip, maintain and operate the Centre so as to provide facilities for diagnosis, preventive, curative and rehabilitative service in medical treatment.

  2. To support and provide enabling environment for medical training of personnel as the Board may consider necessary.

  3. To run effective and cost effective medical services to Nigerians.

  4. To review and update medical findings and research from time to time.

I want to specially thank the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, the Speaker, House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, my distinguished colleagues and Honorable members for their support. They displayed the true Nigerian spirit in the way and manner they rose up in unison to support the bill. I am indebted to them all.
