Rex Minter started his career as a politician in 1955. He was elected to the Santa Monica City Council in 1955 at the age of 27.
In 1963, Rex Minter was elected the mayor of Santa Monica, a position he held till 1967
In 1971, he was appointed to the Santa Monica Municipal Court by former by Governor Ronald Reagan and later became a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge.
Rex Minter was subsequently elevated to the Superior Court upon court unification in 2000.
Rex Minter retired to join the Assigned Judges Program. He served in the United States Marine Corps and is an avid aviator.
