Deju Tonfulu (May 31, 1972 – 1 April 2022) is a Nigerian actor, writer, and producer who was born on May 31st, 1972. The well-known actor was born in Idumota, Lagos Island, Lagos State, but grew up in Abeokuta, Ogun State’s capital, in the Ikija district.

Deju Tonfulu is from Abeokuta in Ogun State, he is popularly known as “Dejo Tunfulu” because he got the name from his comic roles in movies, often as a stammerer. Deju Tonfulu died on the 1st of April 2022.

In the early 1980s, Deju Tonfulu started his education at the Ansar-Ud-Deen primary school in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.

Dejo Tunfulu is a prominent Yoruba comic actor, writer, and producer. He is known for “Hally The Drummer” (2016) and “Jide Jendo” (2020). Dejo Tunfulu began performing in secondary school when he joined the entertainment society (a school drama club) and performed in a few stage plays.

Deju Tonfulu started acting way back in high school when he joined the entertainment society (a school drama club) and did some stage plays in the early 1980s. He is popularly known as Dejo Tunfulu, because of the stammering and gullible role he plays.  

Dejo Tunfulu lived near some notable stars like Fausat Balogun (Madam Saje) and Kayode Olasehinde (Baba Ajirebi) while growing up and had the opportunity to receive training from them even as a boy.

A few years later, he joined Akuko Gagara Theatre Group and Kolawole International Theatre Group, he got his first television appearance in 1987 in the drama series “Apere Ijongbon” by the Kolawole International Theatre Group.

He came into the limelight for his role in the movie titled: “Omo Oran”, featuring the veteran actor Fatai Adetayo (Lalude). Some of his movies are Apere Ijongbon (1987), Yemi my Lover (1993), Ejide (2007), Ito (2008), Hally The Drummer (2016), and Jide Jendo (2020) among many others.

Deju Tonfulu died on the 1st of April 2022 at the General Hospital Ikorodu, Lagos State. First, it was gathered that he battled with chronic kidney disease for several years.

It was also discovered that Deju Tonfulu, who resided in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, became critically ill in the early hours of March 31 and when the family members could no longer manage his condition at home, he was taken to a private hospital, where he had been receiving medical treatment.

It was learned that the unnamed health facility refused to treat the actor and quickly referred him to Ikorodu General Hospital. According to his second son, he said It started around 2 am and they tried to feed him but he did not accept anything.

Around 4 am, they did not understand what the problem was and took him to the private hospital where he uses, but the doctor referred them to Ikorodu General Hospital, saying it is not something they can treat.

Rumors had it that he was so lean and already paralyzed. Deju Tonfulu did not spend 24 hours in the public facility, and died before the results of the test were out.

Though the family believes that his death was the will of God, they said he would have survived if the doctor on duty had attended to him 10 minutes before he gave up the ghost.

Dejo Tunfulu was born on the 31st of May, 1972 in Idumota, Lagos Island area of Lagos State. He has a gorgeous family of children and grandchildren.

His previous marriage produced two adult daughters, Samiat Pamilerin and Balogun boje who were born by. Mrs. Adesola Olakunle, Dejo’s wife, who is no longer alive.

She died in December 2012, during childbirth in the early hours of the morning. Dejo remarried and is blessed with children and grandchildren.
