Educational Background

Daniel Justus Olugbenga attended the Baptist Boys High School in Abeokuta and later studied engineering at the University of Lagos, where he won several awards and became acquainted with Professor Ayodele Awojobi. He also earned an MBA from the same university and attended Lagos Business School for an executive program.

Career

After working as an engineer at H.F.SCHROEDER West Africa Limited, he established Kresta Laurel in 1990, an engineering company that specializes in horizontal and vertical moving engineering. In politics, Daniel was a member of the Unity Party of Nigeria and was initiated into the Committee of Friends of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo while still an undergraduate.

He later became the governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011 and launched his manifesto, titled “Contract with Ogun People,” to transform the state from a civil service state to an industrial economy. During his term in office, Daniel prioritized people-oriented programs, restored hope, rehabilitated infrastructure, and re-engineered institutions in Ogun State. He also raised the bar in sports development and administration by constructing four international stadia and hosting the FIFA Under-17 Championship in 2009.
