Adegboyega Oyetola’s educational journey began at Ifeoluwa Grammar School in Osogbo, where he completed his secondary education in 1972. He later attended the University of Lagos, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Insurance in 1978. He continued to expand his educational horizons, completing his mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Potiskum, Yobe State, where he also served as a lecturer at the Staff Training Centre from 1978 to 1979. Career

Adegboyega Oyetola was affiliated with several political parties throughout his career. He was a member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and remained with the party through its transitions to Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and eventually the All Progressives Congress (APC). He contested for the gubernatorial candidacy of Osun State in the 2018 election on the platform of APC and emerged victorious. He assumed office as the 9th Governor of Osun State on November 27, 2018.

Controversies

Adegboyega Oyetola faced controversy as a result of the Pandora Papers leaks. The Premium Times reported his undisclosed acquisition of a London mansion from Kola Aluko, an international fugitive wanted for money laundering. Oyetola’s offshore company, registered in the British Virgin Islands, purchased the house from another offshore company created by Aluko. The house’s selling price, £9 million, was significantly lower than its estimated worth of £17 million. The house in question also serves as the residence of Bola Tinubu during his medical treatment in London.
