CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel’s career in the Nigeria Police Force began on May 18, 1992, as a course 17 Cadet ASP at the Nigeria Police Academy. Over the years, he held various positions, including Divisional Police Officer in multiple Police Divisions in Niger State, Commandant of the Police Training School in Minna (2003), and officer in charge of Zone 7, HQ Abuja, Zonal Intelligence Bureau.

Internationally, he served in the ECOWAS Peace Support Operation Division (PSOD) and the ECOWAS Standby Force (ESF) as Program Officer and Head of Police Component from January 2016 to June 2021. Upon returning to Nigeria, CP Gumel took on roles such as In-Charge of the Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) at the Force Intelligence Bureau, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
