Golriz Ghahraman (Persian; born 1981) is a lawyer, author, and former New Zealand politician. The former United Nations lawyer was a child asylum seeker, becoming the first refugee elected to New Zealand’s Parliament. Born in Iran in 1981, her family left for Malaysia in 1990 and sought asylum in New Zealand.
