Educational Background

Nababa attended Demonstrations Primary School, Sokoto where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1975. He obtained his SSCE from Government Secondary School Tangaza in 1980.

Nababa holds a degree in history and diploma in criminology from the Usman Danfodio University Sokoto in 1988 and 1996 respectively.

Career

Haliru Nababa is an officer of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) formerly known as the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS).

He joined the Nigerian Prisons Services (NPS) as an Assistant Superintendent in 1990.

He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Controller General in March 2019.

Prior to his appointment as Controller-General, he was the Deputy Controller General correction and the directorate of account and finance from 26th August, 2020.

Appointment as Controller General

In February 2021, Haliru Nababa was nominated by President Buhari to replace Ahmed Ja’afaru as the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS).

Nababa’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
