Educational Background
Yahaya Bello attended Local Government Education Authority (Nigeria) (LGEA) Primary School, Agassa in Okene and Agassa Community Secondary School, Anyava, Agassa-Okene.
He obtained his SSCE certificate from Government Secondary School, Suleja-Niger State in 1994. He studied in Kaduna State Polytechnic Zaria in 1995.

Yahaya Bello obtained a degree in accounting and a Masters in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University ABU Zaria in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
In 2004, Yahaya Bello became a chartered fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.
Career
Prior to joining politics, Yahaya Bello was the Managing Director of FairPlus International Ltd.
He worked with Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) as Revenue Officer II. He was later promoted to a Senior Accountant and later as an Assistant Chief Accountant.
Yahaya Bello is the youngest democratically elected governor in Nigeria. He is the only Nigerian Governor to be born after the civil war.

In 2015, Yahaya Bello was chosen as a replacement for Audu Abubakar who died before he was declared winner of the election. Yahaya Bello declared the winner of the Kogi State gubernatorial election.
In November 2019, Yahaya Bello was elected for a second term in office under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Controversies
In September 2020, the United States Department placed Yahaya Bello and other politicians under Visa ban for allegedly undermining the Nigerian democracy
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Yahaya Bello claimed the virus was ‘an artificial creation’ or simply denied the virus’ existence. His government suppressed testing and fought with the NCDC to keep case numbers artificially low. He also refused to wear face mask on several occasions
Shortly after assuming office, a socio political group Kogi In Action accused Yahaya Bello of fictitious withdraws and contracts inflation.
In February 2021, the Anti-Corruption Network, a Kogi-based group accused Yahaya Bello of laundering billions of naira in public funds.
Premium Times also reported that Yahaya Bello allegedly spent over ₦90 million on a COVID tracking software that only cost ₦300,000.
