Educational Background

Dawisu is an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School. He holds a degree in Mass Communications from the Bayero University Kano.

Career

Dawisu is a journalist. He is the Director General, Media and Communications for the Kano State Government.

He worked with Freedom Radio as a Presenter, Producer and a Media Marketing Consultant. He is also a columnist for online newspaper YNaija and freelance reporter for CNN in Kano State.

Dawisu is a the cofounder of Makuba Center for Traditional Arts & Culture, a center established to promote Hausa – Fulani traditional arts, crafts, history and culture.

Dawisu is also the founder of World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community, Kano Hub.

In 2000, Dawisu have contested for various political positions and have worked as an legislative aide with National Assembly. He is a founding member and state coordinator of All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF).

He was a member of President Buhari campaign team in 2011 and 2015 and a secretary for Kano state ANPP.

Controversies

Ganduje Suspends Dawisu as Media Aide

In October 2020, Governor Ganduje suspended Dawisu as a media aide to the Kano State Governor after he criticized President Buhari’s administration.

Arrest by DSS

After the kidnap of 300 school children in Zamfara, Dawisu criticized President Buhari’s administration yet again. Dawisu said the APC government have failed Nigerians.

Dawisu was arrested on 27th February by the officers of the Department of State Security Services (DSS) on his way to a barbing salon.
