Sheik Ahmad Abubakar Gumi is a retired Nigerian Army Officer, medical doctor and renowned Islamic cleric and scholar. He is popular for carrying out negotiations between the Nigerian government and bandits in the northern Nigeria. Sheik Gumi was born on 1st October 1960 in Kaduna State. He is the eldest son of late Shaykh Abubakar Gumi.

Educational Background
Sheik Gumi attended Sardauna Memorial College (SMC) where he obtained his SSCE certificate. He proceeded to study Medicine and Surgery at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

Career
Sheik Gumi was enlisted to join the Nigerian Army after he graduated from the university. However, he retired as a captain to further his education on Islamic education.
