Mohammed Babandede biography; Career and personal life

Mohammed Babandede is the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS). He was born in Jigawa state in 1963

Educational Background

Mohammed Babandede obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Islamic Studies and a Masters degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice at the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria.

Career

Babandede is the longest serving NIS top officer. He has served in the capacity of Assistant Comptroller General ACG passport at the Immigration Headquarters.

He also served Deputy Comptroller General, Operations and Passports, at the Nigerian Immigration Services.

In 2016, After President Mohammadu Buhari sacked Martin Abeshi, he appointed Babandede as the New Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Services(NIS)

Awards

In 2014, Mohammed Babandede was honored with award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR.

Babandede tests positive to Corona Virus

On 22nd March 2020, Mohammed Babandede in a telephone conversation confirmed that he tested positive to the dreaded Corona Virus.

Babandede who returned from the United Kingdom was placed on self isolation as directed by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
