Educational Background

In 1977, Zainab Ahmed obtained her O’Level certificate from Queen Amina College, Kaduna and later her A’Level certificate in Zaria in 1979.

In 2019, Zainab Ahmed bagged a new degree from ‘PMB School of Good Governance’.

In January 2020, Zainab Ahmed was conferred an honorary doctorate degree in accounting from the Onabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.

Career

Upon graduation from school, Zainab Ahmed did her compulsory Youth Service at Messrs. Egunjobi Suleiman & Co. Chartered Accountants in Kaduna state and served as an Audit Trainee in 1981.

She was employed as Accountant II at the Ministry of Finance in Kaduna State in 1982.

In 1984, she was promoted to Accountant I but she resigned to join NITEL in 1985.

She has served in various capacities in the public service. Some of which include

• managing director of the Kaduna State of Nigeria’s investment company
• Chief Finance Officer of the Nigeria mobile telecommunications company

In 2015, Zainab Ahmed was appointed Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, a position she held till 2018.

In 2018, following the NYSC certificate saga of Kemi Adeosun, the then minister for finance, Zainab Ahmed was appointed the Minister for Finance after Adeosun resigned.

In August 2019, Zainab Ahmed was reappointed as the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning by President Buhari.

Zainab Ahmed is a fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Taxation and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
