Air-Vice Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amao is a Nigerian Air Force Officer. He was appointed the Chief of Air Staff by President Buhari to replace Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. Air Vice Marshal Amao was born on 14th September, 1965 in Enugu State.

Career

Air-Vice Marshal Amao joined the Nigerian Air Force in 1984 as member of the 35 Regular Course at the Nigerian Defence Academy.

He was a Trainee and Squadron Pilot at the Nigerian Air Force Unit 99 ACTG Kainji between 1993 and 2004.

In 2004, Air-Vice Marshal Oladayo Amao was transferred to 301 Flying Training School (FTS) Kaduna as the Instructor Pilot/Squadron Pilot.

Amao was deployed to serve as the Air Assistance to Chief of Air Staff in 2008

He was the Deputy Defence Adviser to the Nigerian High Commission London from 2010 to 2012 as well as the acting Defence Adviser.

He was the Assistance Director of operation at the Nigerian Air Force and the Air Component Commander of operation Zaman Lafiya / Lafiya Dole (North East operation) in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

In 2016, he was appointed the Acting Deputy Theater Commander (Air Ops) for operation Lafia Dole in the fight against Boko Haram.

Prior to his appointment as the Chief of Aur Staff, Air-Vice Marshal Amao served as the Air Assistance to Chief of Air Staff, Deputy Defence Adviser, Nigerian High Commission London, Assistant Director of Operation Defence Headquarters, Director of Policy and Plans, Nigerian Air Force.

He was the Commandant Armed Forces Resettlement Centre Lagos and the Director of Policy at the Nigerian Air Force Head Quarters.

Amao was the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command (TAC) at the Nigerian Air Force.
