Educational Background
In 1987, Joe Okei-Odumakin obtained a Bachelors degree in English Education from the University of Ilorin. She also holds a masters degree in Guidance and Counseling and doctorate in History and Policy of Education from the University of Ilorin.
Career
Joe Okei-Odumakin is an activist who have have always spoken against government ills especially during the regime of Ibrahim Babangida and Sani Abacha.
She was arrested and detained 17 times during the Ibrahim Babangida regime.

Joe Okei-Odumakin have always spoken for and have defended the rights of women in Nigeria. She is the president of Women Arise for Change Initiative and the Campaign for Democracy.
She was involved in over 2000 cases against women rights and extrajudicial killing of women or their husbands by the police.
In 2013, the United States Department of State awarded Joe Okei- Odumakin the International Women of Courage Award.
Joe Okei- Odumakin and her husband were the only couple among the 492-member 2014 National Conference which was held in Abuja, Nigeria.
In 2019, she facilitated the training of the participants of the 10th Civil Society Organisation Professionalism, Effectiveness and Therapy (CSO-CPET) Workshop themed Mobilising Women for Change.
